Arizona Direct Care Worker Association

Member Information

What does the ADCWA do for its members?

The ADCWA helps to build leaders. Training on advocacy and leadership skills helps direct care workers to engage effectively within their communities on issues impacting themselves and their families.
  • As an important component to our health care system, these workers need to have a voice in discussions regarding health care reform. Our association gives them that opportunity.
  • As workers providing for their families, direct care workers need to be able to count on having quality jobs that provide them the ability to earn a living wage and access to affordable health care, have reasonable workloads and adequate training, and have their work respected and recognized as a profession. Through the ADCWA, members work on issues regarding policy changes that impact the provision of these quality jobs.
  • The ADCWA also provides its members with opportunities to network with their peers and work together on developing an advocacy agenda. Working together with long-term care employers helps to strengthen the effort of advocating for long-term care reform. The ADCWA also connects workers with consumers of long-term care services to work together on strengthening quality care through strengthening the direct-care workforce.
  • One way the ADCWA realizes its mission to value the worker is by connecting members to resources in the community. These community resources include discounts on YMCA memberships and access to no-fee, no minimum balance checking accounts. These resources provide access to healthy lifestyles and for financial management that are important to maintain a viable workforce.
What else does the association do?
  •  Increases public education and awareness of long-term care issues (including those impacting direct care workers.
  • Improves the public perception of direct care workers by publicizing the value and significant contribution direct care workers make.
  • Provides continuing education for members, helping to improve quality of care to consumers.
